As a class we took notes on the Elements and Principles of Graphic Design. If you need to review the Prezi please check it out here: Es and Ps of GD

Your task: Show your understanding of the Elements and Principles of Graphic Design by creating a visual and informational blog post.

1. Please create 2 blog posts for this Assignment one titles, "the Elements of Graphic Design" and the other titled, "the Principles of Graphic Design".

2. Your task for the 6 Elements:
Search online for an example of a piece of design work you think best illustrates the each of the elements. (Google Image Search "Line in Graphic Design"). Save this image.
Upload the images you found, site the source for each image and include your two sentences on each Element  describing how the element is used in the work.

3. Your task for the 6 Principles: Search online for an example of a piece of design work you think best illustrates the principles. (Google Image Search "Contrast in Graphic Design").
Upload the images you found, site the source for each image and include your two sentences on each Principle describing how the Principle is used in the work. Add a third sentence on which Element is most predominant in the work.

4. Publish each post when complete.

See my examples below...

2 Examples of Elements

Line - This poster is a good example of line because the lines of the ceiling and hallway stand out and lead your eye to the twins at the end of the hallway.  There is also a detailed decorative line drawing in the top corner.

Colour - This poster shows colour because the colours of orange and yellow really stand out against the blue background.

2 Examples of Principles

Contrast - This poster shows the Principle of contrast because there is a very light coloured sky and trees in the background set against a dark face in the foreground. There is alos contrast in the dark figures face, the eyes and mouth are white and stand out. The most predominant Element is shape because the shapes are silhouetted and stand out against one another. The simplification of colour and texture allows us to draw our attention to the shapes.

Balance - This album cover represents Balance because if you cut the image vertically down the center there is the same visual weight on both sides. The person on the left balances with the person on the right. The moon and lettering is centered down the middle too.  The most predominant Element is texture as there is a large variety of texture in this image such as the feathers, crinkled jeans, hair, smooth sky, rippled water, silky scarf.
